Why do they refuse to disclose party affiliation?
The campaign is in full swing. Signs are going up and mailers will be arriving soon. I have been thinking a lot lately about the importance of having core principles, both in personal life and political views. In fact, you could say that your core beliefs and principles transcend and influence all aspects of your life. We all have deep personal convictions religious or otherwise. Not much is being said this campaign about party affiliation.
I choose to be affiliated with the Republican Party. Yes, at times, and in some instances I may disagree with the party or be disappointed with members who have acted less than honorably, but I affiliate with this party because it has the platforms most closely aligned with my own personal political views. I must accept all that goes with the label of “R”. The good and the bad. I support the Utah County Republican Party Platform, the Utah State Republican Party Platform, and I even helped write the 2008 National GOP Platform (considered one of the most conservative platforms in decades).
Limited, Constitutional government is my goal.
Even though I have not yet personally met my opponent, I believe him to be a good person. I have yet to see a sign, billboard, mailer or brochure with any indication of his party affiliation. Richard Davis, the Chairman of the Utah County Democrat Party said the Democrat candidates have been urged to not emphasize party.
The Daily Herald editorialized about this issue on Sept. 23, 2010. I believe in openness and transparency. You know what you get with me-you can find it in the Republican Party documents at all levels.
Why is my opponent avoiding his party affiliation? Is he trying to trick the voters? He is a Democrat. With parties, every leaf is a part of the tree. Like it or not, I am a foot soldier for all Republican candidates and office holders including Congress, U.S. Senate, Governor, and President. Like it or not, Utah County Democrats are foot soldiers for their state and national leaders as well.

My husband and I would be pleased display a campaign sign for you in our yard if you have any to spare.
Best wishes for success,
Jan D.
